Frédéric Tcheng
'Dior and I', the highly anticipated film documenting the creation of Raf Simons' first haute couture collection for Christian Dior, is coming to cinemas this Friday, 27 March. To celebrate the release of the documentary by Frédéric Tcheng, SHOWstudio is pleased to present a film trailer and an interview with the filmmaker. In conversation with Lou Stoppard, Tcheng discusses falling into the world of fashion and persuading the initially reluctant Simons to agree to filming.

The latest addition to our 'Subjective' model interview series sees Nick Knight sit down with Alek Wek to discuss her experiences of modelling in Alexander McQueen's A/W 97 and A/W 00 shows. As part of our 'Unseen McQueen' series, we are releasing more exclusive and poignant interviews with some of Lee McQueen's closest creative collaborators. Led by Lou Stoppard, the conversations shed light on McQueen's working relationships with his right-hand woman Trino Verkade, casting director Jess Hallett, set designer Simon Costin, and writer Michelle Olley, who appeared as the centrepiece of McQueen's iconic 'Voss' show. Today, 19 March marks the end of our week-long 'Unseen McQueen' series. For the last seven days, we have unveiled an array of archive footage and exclusive interviews celebrating Nick Knight's ground-breaking work with the late Lee McQueen. Newly edited films of past shoot footage and creative projects dating as far back as 1997 have been released each day, accompanied by candid video conversations with Katy England, Joseph Bennett, Michael Clark and others who knew and worked with the late designer. Explore the project, and stay tuned for three new interviews with more of the McQueen set, launching tomorrow, 20 March.

The Face
For the fifth instalment of our 'Unseen McQueen' series, we dug up and re-edited photoshoot footage from Nick Knight's 1998 archive. Inspired by the Alexander McQueen A/W 98 'Joan' collection, Nick Knight shot an editorial for The Face featuring Lee McQueen himself in character as Joan of Arc and model Shirley Mallmann on a bed of nails.

'He didn't restrict himself to classic fashion shows. He wanted to do something that was more close to art really.' The Cell
The penultimate piece of footage gleaned from Knight's archives for our 'Unseen McQueen' series shows the creation of an image from 1999 for Tina Brown's Talk magazine. In Knight's photograph, McQueen appears bound in chains and hanging from his own flesh in a padded cell. The themes of torment and captivity reflected the designer's unhappiness working as head designer at Givenchy. Watch the short film to watch the image-making process from beginning to end.

Marian Newman
Nail artist Marian Newman spoke exclusively to Lou Stoppard about working with Lee McQueen on shows and projects including the Alexander McQueen S/S 10 'Plato's Atlantis' show, McQueen's last. 'Every time I did something with him there was always a story with the nails, which was great - and it was unheard of in those days,' she says of the designer's attention to detail.

The Angel Interview
Today, 19 March, we unveiled the last piece of 'Unseen McQueen' footage from Nick Knight's archive. In 2000, Knight and McQueen were commissioned to interview each other for i-D magazine. Filmed at London's Hempel Hotel by Knight's assistants, the conversation took place ahead of the launch of Knight and McQueen's 'Angel' project, a haunting 2001 sound and image installation. Only part of the footage survives, although all of the audio remains intact.

Nick Knight & Alexander McQueen
Launched in conjunction with the opening of 'Savage Beauty' at the V&A, our 'Unseen McQueen' series is in full swing. We began the week by launching a previously unseen 1998 interview with a young Lee McQueen, followed by footage documenting the creation of Knight's iconic 'Blade of Light' photograph. Also available to watch is video of Knight's 1997 shoot for Visionaire magazine featuring model Laura de Palma in McQueen's controversial 'Bellmer' harness and his campaign shoot for McQueen's 2006 range with Puma. Interviews with McQueen's friends and collaborators including Knight himself, choreographer Michael Clark, stylist Katy England and 'Savage Beauty' curator Claire Wilcox sit alongside the archive content. 'I don't think about the term 'muse'. It doesn't mean anything to me. I don't really know what it is in terms of my job in fashion. I was just there as part of the McQueen team.' Stylist Katy England reflects on her relationship with the late Lee McQueen in our exclusive interview. England first met McQueen in 1994, and the pair worked together for 13 years on a variety of his early shows including 'The Birds' and 'Voss'. In conversation with Lou Stoppard, she discusses her first meeting with the designer and the atmosphere backstage at some of his most iconic shows.
