Nick Knight & Alexander McQueen
Launched in conjunction with the opening of 'Savage Beauty' at the V&A, our 'Unseen McQueen' series is in full swing. We began the week by launching a previously unseen 1998 interview with a young Lee McQueen, followed by footage documenting the creation of Knight's iconic 'Blade of Light' photograph. Also available to watch is video of Knight's 1997 shoot for Visionaire magazine featuring model Laura de Palma in McQueen's controversial 'Bellmer' harness and his campaign shoot for McQueen's 2006 range with Puma. Interviews with McQueen's friends and collaborators including Knight himself, choreographer Michael Clark, stylist Katy England and 'Savage Beauty' curator Claire Wilcox sit alongside the archive content. Stay tuned for more exciting and exclusive unseen footage and interviews every day until 19 March.

'I don't think about the term 'muse'. It doesn't mean anything to me. I don't really know what it is in terms of my job in fashion. I was just there as part of the McQueen team.' Stylist Katy England reflects on her relationship with the late Lee McQueen in our exclusive interview. England first met McQueen in 1994, and the pair worked together for 13 years on a variety of his early shows including 'The Birds' and 'Voss'. In conversation with Lou Stoppard, she discusses her first meeting with the designer and the atmosphere backstage at some of his most iconic shows.

Alongside the never-before-seen archive gems being released as part of our 'Unseen McQueen' project, Nick Knight has been opening up about his long-term collaborative relationship with the designer. The pair worked together from 1996 until McQueen's death in 2010 and continuously pushed creative boundaries. In a series of daily interviews, the photographer speaks about their iconic images, McQueen as a man and the vision and ideas behind their collaborations.

Nick Knight has filmed all of his photo-shoots since the late eighties and in his extensive personal archive sits footage of the making of some of his most iconic imagery. As part of our 'Unseen McQueen' series, we've released a behind-the-scenes film of the creation of Knight's 'Blade of Light' photograph, a spectacle choreographed by Michael Clark and featuring the Alexander McQueen 'They Shoot Horses, Don't They?' inspired S/S 04 'Deliverance' collection.

The third instalment of our exclusive 'Unseen McQueen' series features archive footage from 1997. Watch Nick Knight and Lee McQueen at work on images for the 20th edition of 'Visionaire', guest edited by Comme Des Garçons. Their boundary-pushing collaboration resulted in the now infamous image of model Laura de Palma wearing the controversial metal 'Bellmer' harness from the Alexander McQueen's S/S 97 'La Poupee' show.

Curated to celebrate Nick Knight's dynamic collaborations with Alexander McQueen, and to coincide with the V&A's 'Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty' retrospective, SHOWstudio Shop's upcoming exhibition showcases Knight's arresting images of the designer's work. 'Nick Knight & Alexander McQueen' opens to the public on 19 March and will run until 5 June 2015.
