Last Thursday, 23 October, saw the opening of the 'SPEZIAL' exhibition at Design Manchester 14. Curated by Gary Aspden, the show features adidas footwear from a host of different collectors, as well as deadstock collected from a store in Buenos Aires, which was documented in the short film 'Sole Searching in South America' that launched this month on SHOWstudio. We asked Aspden a few questions about the motivations behind this fan-centric celebration of the adidas brand.

Make-up artist Val Garland is the latest interviewee in our 'Transformative' series, where Nick Knight speaks to creatives whose skills helped create the world's most iconic imagery. Garland discusses working with Lady Gaga on the 'Alejandro' music video, revealing how they stripped back Gaga's usual beauty look to focus on her perfectly rouged mouth. 'It was one of my favourite moments of Gaga,' she says.
